Former Labour Party presidential candidate in 2019, Peter Ameh, has resigned from the party.
He submitted his resignation to the party chairman in Ogugu Ward 1, Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.
He said his decision was taken after deep thought and was based on what he believes is best for the country and the future of democracy.
Ameh, who once served as National Chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, explained that his connection with the Labour Party was built on shared political beliefs and his close relationship with the late former National Chairman of the party, Abdulkadir Abdulsalam.
He described Abdulsalam as a key figure who influenced his time in the party and said he remains thankful for that bond.
He also looked back on his long involvement in politics, noting that he had earlier led the Progressive Peoples Alliance and also held leadership in IPAC.
He said he still believes in Nigeria’s multi-party system and will continue to support its growth and survival.
According to him, his exit is not driven by anger or personal benefit but by his view that political groups should operate with trust, respect for agreements, and honesty in both words and actions.
Ameh thanked the party leadership and members for their support during his stay in the Labour Party and wished them well as they continue their political work and efforts toward national progress.
