He served on the party’s platform as a two-term member of the House of Representatives and a two-term senator.

The lawmaker described the PDP as “once the largest political party in Africa,” saying it was previously known for strong ideology, unity and democratic values that enabled participatory governance.

Ningi said internal leadership crisis, factional divisions and competing interests had weakened the party’s unity and structure.

He wrote, “It is now a great concern and worrisome to me that this virile and united platform could be turned into a ramshackle organisation with internal leadership wrangling and factional interests.”

The senator said leaving the PDP was one of the most difficult decisions of his political career. He added that the party had given him the opportunity to serve his constituency and the country with distinction.

The lawmaker expressed gratitude to PDP leaders at all levels who supported his political journey over the years.

“As I continue my political career outside the People’s Democratic Party, please accept my best regards,” he added.
