The All Progressives Congress (APC) has postponed its House of Representatives primary election for the 2027 general elections by one day.

The ruling party announced that the exercise, initially scheduled to hold on Friday, May 15, would now take place on Saturday, May 16.

themomentng reports that the development was disclosed in a statement issued late Thursday by the APC National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka.

According to the statement, the adjustment affects only the House of Representatives primary election, while all other scheduled primaries will proceed as earlier announced.

The APC said the timetable for the Senate, State Houses of Assembly, governorship and presidential primaries remains intact.

Under the revised schedule, Senate primaries are expected to hold on Monday, May 18, while State House of Assembly primaries are slated for Wednesday, May 20.

Governorship primaries are scheduled for Thursday, May 21, while the party’s presidential primary election will hold on Saturday, May 23.

The party did not state the reason behind the sudden postponement of the House of Representatives exercise.

The postponement came barely hours before the commencement of the House of Representatives primaries across the country.

Despite the shift, party officials are expected to continue preparations for the remaining primary elections in line with the timetable approved by the party leadership.

The APC has in recent days intensified preparations for the 2027 general elections, including the screening of aspirants seeking tickets for various elective offices.

The party had earlier urged aspirants and members to embrace peace and internal democracy during the exercise while warning against acts capable of causing division within the ruling party.
