Former member of the House of Representatives, Mr Francis Agbo, has emerged as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for the Benue South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Announcing the results on Tuesday in Makurdi, the chairman of the APC National Assembly Primary Election Committee for Benue and Returning Officer, Alhaji Sabiu Mahuta, described the exercise as credible, transparent and peaceful.
Mahuta said Agbo secured the party’s ticket after polling the highest number of votes cast with 58,760 votes.
According to him, Patrick Idoko scored 2,732 votes; Gabriel Agidam polled 5,246 votes; Joseph Ojobo garnered 4,312 votes, while Daniel Onjeh secured 4,570 votes.
He subsequently declared Agbo winner of the APC senatorial primary election for Benue South and returned him as the party’s candidate for the 2027 general elections.
