Junesberry School has won the grand finale of the Suleja Spelling Bee competition organised by the Foundation for Human Capacity Development and Innovation in Niger.
Junesberry School secured ₦500,000 star prize after a closely contested final showcasing spelling accuracy, composure, and strong academic performance among participating schools.
Hassan Dallatu Model School came second, earning ₦300,000, while Global Vision School placed third with ₦200,000 in the academic contest.
Eng. Mukhtar LEA School finished fourth and received ₦100,000 for its commendable participation in the keenly contested final round.
Founder of the foundation, Rear Adm. Hamza Ibrahim, said the competition reflects the foundation’s commitment to nurturing young talent and strengthening educational development in Nigeria.
He said, “We want the children to know that we care and that society cares about their development.”
He said the competition would be held annually and urged schools to sustain academic discipline beyond competitive spirit, noting donations from Chief of Army Staff.
Special Guest of Honour, Alhaji Yusuf Mohammed, urged pupils to remain focused and determined despite challenges faced during the competition.
He said failure should motivate pupils to achieve greater success in life through determination and resilience.
Mohammed added pupils should give back to society, noting they include future doctors, engineers, pilots and lawyers.
Head of Academic Section in Suleja, Alhaji Sabo Abdullah, commended organisers for sustaining the educational initiative in the region.
He expressed delight that government schools reached the finals and urged them to improve performance further next year.
All participating pupils received school bags as Children’s Day gifts recognising their effort and participation in the competition.
In another highlight, the founder presented laptops to two Suleja indigenes who graduated with first-class degrees in recognition of excellence.
