Barcelona secured their fourth UEFA Women’s Champions League title in six seasons after a dominant 4-0 victory over Olympique Lyonnais in the final in Oslo on Saturday.
After a tightly contested first half, Barcelona took control of the game in the second half through Ewa Pajor, who opened the scoring in the 55th minute.
The Poland striker latched onto a pass from Patri Guijarro before firing a low left-footed shot past Lyon goalkeeper Christiane Endler.
Pajor doubled Barcelona’s advantage in the 69th minute, tapping home from close range after a cross from Salma Paralluelo.
Paralluelo then added her name to the scoresheet late in the match, producing a powerful strike from outside the box in the 90th minute to make it 3-0.
The Spain winger completed her brace in stoppage time after being set up by Pajor, sealing an emphatic victory for the Spanish champions.
Barcelona’s triumph marked a return to the summit of European women’s football after their surprise defeat to Arsenal Women F.C. in last season’s final in Lisbon.
Lyon had threatened early in the game when captain Wendie Renard forced a save from goalkeeper Cata Coll before Lindsey Heaps converted the rebound, only for the goal to be ruled out for offside following a VAR review.
Coll also made important saves to deny Selma Bacha, Vicki Becho and Tabitha Chawinga as Barcelona held firm before their late attacking flourish.
Pajor finished the tournament with 11 goals, overtaking Alessia Russo as the competition’s top scorer.
