A new cross-border remittance service has been launched in Liberia through a partnership between BnB Liberia and Orange Money Liberia, aimed at expanding international money transfer options and strengthening the country’s digital financial ecosystem.

The service enables Orange Money wallet users in Liberia to send money directly to several African countries, including Ghana, Sierra Leone, Guinea, Côte d’Ivoire, Senegal, Mali, Uganda, and Rwanda. Transactions are designed to be instant and secure, allowing users to move funds across borders using mobile wallets without relying on traditional banking channels.

The initiative brings together BnB Liberia’s cross-border payment infrastructure and network capabilities with the wide consumer reach of Orange through its mobile money platform, Orange Money. The collaboration is positioned as part of broader efforts to deepen financial inclusion and improve access to digital financial services across Liberia.

According to the partners, Liberia remains a key market in their expansion strategy, with prior work already including mobile wallet-based remittance settlement, foreign exchange services, and the development of agent networks supporting cash-in and cash-out services. The new outbound remittance feature builds on these foundations by extending capabilities beyond domestic transactions.

The development reflects a growing trend across West Africa toward interoperable mobile money systems and regional payment integration, as countries increasingly rely on fintech partnerships to facilitate faster, lower-cost cross-border transactions for individuals, families, and small businesses.
