The Federal Government has approved the immediate release of N111 billion for the construction of Section One of the Akwanga-Jos Road, the minister of works, Sen. Dave Umahi, has said.

He described the approval as good news for Nigerians and a major boost to the Federal Government’s ongoing legacy infrastructure projects implementation.

He said, “The president has directed the immediate release of N111 billion to CGC for Section One of the fourth legacy project—from Akwanga to Jos, covering about 125 km.”

The minister added that Tinubu had also directed the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress to represent him at the flag-off of the project scheduled for July 1.

He said that members of the National Assembly would be fully invited to participate in the event.

Umahi also disclosed that the president had directed the immediate design of the Gombe-Bauchi Road project spanning approximately 156 km.

“He has also directed that the Gombe-Bauchi Road should be designed immediately. We are already working on it,” he said.

The minister also announced that the second carriageway of the third legacy project, stretching from Ebonyi through Benue, Kogi and Nasarawa states to the Oweto Bridge, would be designed and procured.

According to him, the approvals demonstrate the administration’s commitment to accelerating infrastructure development across the country.

“This is wonderful news for us and all Nigerians.

“It shows the commitment of the president to delivering critical road infrastructure that will enhance connectivity and economic growth,” Umahi said.
