The Department of State Services, DSS, has interrogated social media influencer Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, over a leaked video linked to an ongoing coup trial.

The questioning followed an order by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik of the Federal High Court in Abuja, who directed an investigation into how the restricted footage found its way into the public space.

GWG.ng reports that the video was tendered as evidence in the trial of suspects accused of plotting to overthrow President Bola Tinubu’s government. The case stems from the arrest of several individuals in 2024.

During court sessions on June 23 and 24, 2026, Director of Public Prosecutions Rotimi Oyedepo told the court that the restricted video was being circulated on VeryDarkMan’s social media pages, in violation of an earlier court order barring its distribution.

Speaking after the interrogation, VeryDarkMan said he spent hours with DSS operatives before he was released in the early hours of Thursday.

“I got home around 2 a.m. this morning after spending hours at the DSS office, where I was interrogated and investigated over a video I posted four days ago,” he said. “The investigation was reportedly ordered by Justice Joyce Abdulmalik. I was asked to explain how I obtained the video, and I told them the whole truth.”

The influencer insisted he had no hand in the leak. He told investigators that his phone number is public because of his status as a public figure, and anyone could reach him. He added that his Samsung phone automatically saves incoming media files, even from unknown senders.
