A United States lawmaker, Rep. Nancy Mace, has announced plans to introduce legislation seeking to ban immigration from three african countries, citing their security concerns and instability.

The countries, tagged as “Third World Hellholes,” are Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan.

A Republican representing South Carolina, Mace, disclosed the proposal in a statement issued on June 25 and obtained on Sunday from her official website.

According to the congresswoman, the proposed legislation is aimed at protecting American communities from what she described as the security risks associated with the three countries.

“Today (June 25), Congresswoman Nancy Mace (R-SC) announced her plans to introduce legislation to ban immigration from Somalia, Sudan, and South Sudan, protecting American communities from the instability and security threats these nations bring,” the statement read.

Speaking of the proposed bill, Mace said, “We will not put the interests of foreign nationals ahead of the safety and security of American citizens.

“No more importing instability. No more ignoring the warning signs. No more apologising for putting our country first. America First. Always.”

Mace argued that Somalia, Sudan and South Sudan are among the world’s “most dangerous and unstable nations.”

She said US should not repeat what she described as the immigration mistakes made by some European nations.

“Americans have watched European cities descend into chaos. Importing people from failed and hostile states has cost lives, destroyed communities, and shattered public trust in government. The United States will not make those mistakes. We are stopping it before it’s too late,” she said.

The lawmaker also claimed that the three countries pose broader security and integration challenges.

“We are being systematically invaded and everyone is sitting around watching it happen. Not us. We refuse,” Mace added.

The announcement aligns with the hardline immigration stance of President Donald Trump, who, during his first term, implemented the “Muslim travel ban” that restricted entry from several majority-Muslim nations, including Somalia and Sudan.

In his current term, Trump heightened efforts with mass deportation goals, expanded restrictions via proclamations targeting multiple countries,

He had publicly vowed to “permanently pause” migration from “Third World countries” to prevent the U.S. from becoming one, while repeatedly criticising immigration from nations like China and India, calling them failed states or “hellholes.”

Mace’s proposed legislation has yet to be formally introduced in the U.S. Congress.
