Nigeria’s first lady, Senator Remi Tinubu, has come out to react to comments from Nigerians following her recent statement of empowering women to sell akara, kuli-kuli, and roast corn.
Her statement, according to the videos and comments sighted on social media, did not sit well with a lot of Nigerians, and they took to their social media platforms to express their dissatisfaction.
The first lady did not take back her words or feel remorseful by her statements due to the backlash gotten from Nigerians; rather, she went ahead in affirmation to what she said earlier by saying;
“Criticism will not stop me from empowering akara sellers and other women traders. I heard people talking about akara sellers. It is not only akara sellers. We are supporting tomato sellers, maize sellers, vegetable sellers, and many other petty traders. Nigeria is a really blessed country. I pray that our young people will see the resources we have in this nation.” she said.
