The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, has revealed what he said God told him about the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oyo State.

The victims were kidnapped on May 15 from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area. During their captivity, the kidnappers reportedly killed a mathematics teacher, Michael Oyedokun, and circulated a video of the killing.

Speaking in a viral video from the US-Nigeria Faith Heroes Award Gala in Washington, D.C., Adeboye said the tragedy drove him into intense prayer.

“I was compelled to cry unto God because we have been fasting and praying for a particular group of schoolchildren who were captured. Some people then began to speak, challenging those of us who said we had been praying. They said, ‘You are fasting, you are praying, where is your God?’”

He said he sought God’s intervention over the criticism and the fate of the victims.
“God spoke to me. He told me that the release of the children is going to be dramatic.”

Adeboye said God did not reveal when or how the victims would regain freedom but assured him the situation was in His hands.
“He did not tell me the time or the details. He also spoke about what would happen to those who have been sponsoring terrorism and kidnapping in Nigeria.”

The cleric also recalled urging President Bola Tinubu in 2024 to direct security agencies to decisively tackle terrorism and kidnapping.

According to him, the president later met with him and subsequently issued directives to security chiefs.

Adeboye defended Tinubu against claims that he had not done enough, saying, “When the commander-in-chief has given instructions to his subordinates, he has done his bit. You don’t expect him to go and put on khaki.”
