Bayern Munich have confirmed the signing of Morocco international Ismael Saibari from PSV Eindhoven, with the attacking midfielder agreeing a contract until 30 June 2031.

Ismael Saibari, 25, who is currently representing Morocco at the 2026 FIFA World Cup, will join the Bundesliga champions after the tournament and will wear the number 34 shirt.

Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said the club had moved early to secure one of the tournament’s standout attacking players.

Eberl said: “We are very pleased to have secured Ismael Saibari, one of the most exciting offensive players of this World Cup, for FC Bayern. Such transfers do not happen on the spur of the moment but rather through forward-looking work: It was crucial that we positioned ourselves early with him because we knew about Ismael’s abilities and were able to show him a concrete perspective with us from the start. Ismael Saibari will add additional quality and unpredictability to our offensive play.”

Sporting director Christoph Freund believes the Moroccan has all the qualities needed to thrive in Munich.

“Ismael Saibari has won the Dutch championship three times with Eindhoven, has Champions League experience, and is now also showing at the World Cup at the highest level how valuable he can be for a team. He is versatile, intense, brave in his play, has exactly the hunger we want to see at FC Bayern, and will do the team good with his goal threat and mentality. Fans come to the stadium for players like him,” Freund said.

Saibari said joining Bayern fulfils a childhood ambition and admitted head coach Vincent Kompany played a key role in convincing him to make the move.

Moroccan said: “Even as a child, one dreams of signing a contract with a club like FC Bayern, everyone knows that it is one of the biggest clubs in the world. FC Bayern competes for the most important titles like the Champions League every year, and I want to win as many titles as possible here. The style of FC Bayern suits me, I can play my game here and will work hard every day to help the team. Trainer Vincent Kompany played a major role in my decision, I am very much looking forward to the collaboration.”

Born in Terrassa, Spain, Saibari came through the academies of Anderlecht and Genk before joining PSV in 2020. He leaves the Dutch club after scoring 42 goals and providing 29 assists in 142 league appearances, helping them win three Eredivisie titles, three Dutch Super Cups and two KNVB Cups. He was also named the Netherlands’ Footballer of the Year after an outstanding 2025/26 campaign.

On the international stage, Saibari has become a key figure for Morocco since making his senior debut in 2023. He has scored decisive goals during the World Cup, including strikes against Brazil, Scotland and Haiti, before converting the winning penalty in the last-16 shoot-out victory over the Netherlands.
