Olayemi pledged to serve with integrity while building on the achievements of past chairmen through innovation and programmes that enhance members’ professional value.

He said continuous training would prepare members, particularly young accountants, to remain relevant in a rapidly evolving profession.

According to him, accountants must continuously improve their skills because value creation begins with personal and professional development.

He added that the district would sustain training, engagement and selfless service to the institute and the nation.

The immediate past Chairman, Mr Sani Danbaba, urged the new executive to consolidate on existing achievements despite prevailing challenges.

Danbaba said his administration recorded notable milestones by organising monthly technical sessions on AI, sustainability reporting and green accounting.

He added that members also benefited from programmes covering leadership, workplace issues and health-related topics.

On her part, Seghosime, urged the new executive members to be steadfast, and solidify the achievements of the past executives of the district.

Represented by AVM Abubakar Adamu, the ICAN president enjoined them to be focused and abide by the mantra of her administration

Seghosime said the institute prioritises wider access to accounting education, professionalism, integrity, innovation and technology-driven practice.

She said the institute had embedded AI tools, data analytics and cybersecurity into its revised syllabus to prepare accountants for emerging workplace demands.

“The new syllabus these days at ICAN is encouraging us to use embedded AI tools, looking at analytics and cyber security. So we prepare our accountants to remain relevant for the sector.

“We prepare our accounting graduates, our accountants ready for the market to contribute their quota in the development of the economy,” she stressed.

According to her, the initiative is designed to produce market-ready accountants capable of contributing meaningfully to Nigeria’s economic development.
