A father of 11, Lawal Hamisu, prayed the Shari’a Court II sitting at Magajin Gari, Kaduna, on Tuesday, July 21, to compel his daughter, Fatima Lawal, to find a suitor and marry.

Speaking through his counsel, H.B. Debo, the complainant stated that his daughter is 27 years old and has earned her Higher National Diploma (HND). He noted that although she entertains various admirers, she has failed to present a serious suitor for marriage.

“She should get a suitor, present him in court, and the court should marry her off since her mother has poisoned her mind against me,” he said.

In her response, the defendant stated that she currently has no serious suitor, explaining that none of her admirers have proposed marriage to her.

The presiding judge, Malam Yakubu Abdullahi, described the case as sensitive because it involves a parent and child. He indicated that he would hold one-on-one sessions with both parties to gain a better understanding of the situation and provide appropriate advice.

After hearing the case, the judge adjourned the matter to August 3 for a ruling.
