Handsome Nollywood actor, Ramsey Nouah, the ace Nigerian actor, says talent alone is insufficient for building a sustainable career, emphasising that discipline and consistency are the true drivers of lasting success.
In a recent interview, the 55-year-old actor reflected on his decades-long journey in the industry, noting that many people often mistake fame for success without understanding the dedication and effort required behind the scenes.
“I’ve come to know and learn that talent is not enough. Discipline is what actually keeps you consistent when inspiration fails you,” he said.
When asked what people often misunderstand about his success in Nollywood despite his achievements as an actor, director, and producer, Nouah explained that many only see the glamour, not the sacrifices.
“A lot of people assume that success is like giving, but it’s not. They never see the work, the effort, the doubts and everything behind the scenes,” he said.
“They usually don’t see it, and they always think that when you’re famous, you’re successful already. That’s what it means, that’s what it takes.”
On the question of whether becoming successful or staying successful is more difficult, the actor said consistency outweighs momentary achievements.
“Success is a given, but it can happen just once. Consistency is what really matters, consistency. And for you to be consistent, you need discipline,” he added.
Nouah, one of Nollywood’s most celebrated figures, has built a career spanning over three decades.
Beyond acting, he has also established himself as a filmmaker, directing and producing several acclaimed projects, including ‘Living in Bondage’. He has also starred in notable productions such as Netflix’s ‘Blood Sisters’.
