A new Nollywood film, “Black Market,” is targeting a Guinness World Record with its Sept. 26 premiere at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, where organizers expect 50,000 viewers.
Rixelstudios, the production company, made the announcement in a post on its Instagram page, @rixelstudios.

“Black Market,” a crime drama directed by Fatimah Gimsay, tells the story of five market women who operate a cross-border smuggling business amid fuel scarcity and mounting pressure.
The film is scheduled to have its premiere on Sept. 26 at Tafawa Balewa Square, Lagos, where organisers are targeting 50,000 people for the screening.
Produced by Rixelstudios in collaboration with FilmOne Studios, Signet Ring Studios and Switch Visuals Production, the movie explores crime, survival and the bond among the women.
The plot focuses on the women’s struggle after a rival kidnaps the daughter of one of them, forcing the group to risk everything to save her.
Written by Abdul Tijani-Ahmed and Fatimah Gimsay, the film is directed by Gimsay and produced by Nora Awolowo and Nicole Ofoegbu.
The movie features a seasoned cast including Lateef Adedimeji, Linda Ejiofor-Suleiman, Itele D Icon, Scarlet Gomez, Omowunmi Dada, Teniola Aladese, Susan Pwajok and Uzor Arukwe among others.
The film is among the Nollywood productions showcasing contemporary Nigerian stories through crime, drama and action to a wider cinema audience.
