Ghanaian fintech and digital payments company Hubtel has partnered with Mobile Money Fintech Limited (MMFL) to support the development and growth of emerging fintech innovators in Ghana.

Under the partnership, Hubtel will serve as the Official Technology Partner of the 2026 MoMo Fintech Lab, a national initiative aimed at helping fintech innovators develop and scale their ideas.

The programme was officially launched on 12 August 2026 at the Accra Marriott Hotel. The event was attended by Hubtel executives Nana Owusu-Marfo, Head of Brand and User Experience; Francis Wilson, Head of Infrastructure and Payments; Patrick Asare-Frimpong, Head of Product Management; and Augustine Gyawu Adjei, Head of Engineering, alongside industry leaders, innovators, technology companies and other stakeholders.

The three-month programme will provide emerging fintech talent with opportunities to develop their ideas through hackathons, mentorship and incubation support before culminating in a national Demo Day. It will be implemented across three zones—Accra, Kumasi and Tamale—to extend opportunities to innovators beyond the capital.

As the Official Technology Partner, Hubtel will contribute its experience in payments, technology and product development to help transform promising ideas into practical solutions for Ghana’s digital economy.

The launch was also attended by the Minister for communication, digital technology, and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, who stressed the importance of developing homegrown financial technology solutions and urged investors and industry stakeholders to continue supporting emerging ventures beyond the programme’s Demo Day.

“You can’t be treating tech startups the way you treat an industrial business,” he said, arguing that technology businesses need patient capital.

MMFL Chief Executive Officer Shaibu Haruna described the MoMo Fintech Lab as a long-term commitment to strengthening Ghana’s fintech ecosystem, an objective he said aligns with Hubtel’s vision.

“For us to build an inclusive digital economy, we need everybody and every talent to come on board,” he said.

Hubtel said its support for the programme reflects its broader commitment to Ghana’s fintech and technology sector. The company aims to share its experience and expertise with emerging innovators and help create an environment where fintech concepts can develop into solutions addressing real challenges for businesses and consumers.
