The offer was announced by Ossai Ovie Success, Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, in a Facebook post.
Ossai said he would provide the young woman with ₦500,000 in cash support and a complimentary VIP trip to the fourth edition of the Delta Social Media Summit, scheduled to hold on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at the Mariam Babangida Leisure Park, opposite Dennis Osadebay University in Asaba, Delta State.
According to him, the package would include her trip to Asaba, accommodation, and VIP participation at the summit.
The benefits listed by the governor’s aide include ₦500,000 cash support, flight tickets to Asaba, five-star hotel accommodation, a guided tour of developmental projects in Delta State, VIP access to the summit and a brand ambassador role for the Delta Social Media Summit.
Ossai also appealed to the public to stop further attacks against the young woman over the incident, noting that the backlash she has faced online could have serious emotional consequences.
“I know the internet can be harsh. Depression is real and words cut deep,” he wrote.
While acknowledging that the graduate had made a mistake, Ossai said the incident should not become a reason for continued harassment.
“She made a mistake but we don’t need to torment her daily, she needs our support,” he said.
He also thanked Elumelu for correcting the graduate during the encounter, saying the intervention would help reinforce the importance of respect in society.
“Thank you Mr Tony Elumelu for pointing out the needed correction that will further strengthen respect in our society,” Ossai stated.
The Delta State government aide further offered the young woman an opportunity to publicly share her side of the story and use the experience as a stepping stone rather than allowing the controversy to define her.
He appealed to anyone who knows her to encourage her to contact him.
“If you’re reading this or anyone knows her, please ask her to DM me,” he said.
Ossai added that he intended to give her a platform to tell her story and have a positive experience from the opportunity.
“I will give her a good time and a platform to tell her story.”
“Let’s turn this pain into purpose,” he added.
“She won’t be disappointed.”
