The Airtel Africa Foundation is offering full fellowships to 20 exceptional first-year undergraduate students in Uganda as part of efforts to support the next generation of leaders in technology and innovation.
The fellowship will cover tuition, accommodation, and academic materials, as well as provide recipients with a fixed stipend to support core course expenses.
The programme is targeted at students pursuing undergraduate degrees in technology-focused fields, including information technology, computer science, software engineering, cyber security, data science, and artificial intelligence.
To qualify, applicants must be Ugandan nationals admitted as first-year students for the 2026/2027 academic year at one of the participating universities. Applicants must also be new entrants admitted to first year for the first time, meaning students repeating first year or transferring from another programme are not eligible.
Candidates must meet their university’s minimum entry requirements, including obtaining at least two principal passes at Uganda Certificate of Education (UACE) level in one sitting. They must also demonstrate the potential to succeed in their selected programme.
The fellowship is specifically intended for students from financially constrained backgrounds. Applicants will be required to demonstrate financial need and must not hold another scholarship, including a Government of Uganda Scholarship.
The participating institutions are Makerere University, ISBAT University, Uganda Christian University, Mbarara University of Science & Technology and Kyambogo University.
Through the fellowship, the Airtel Africa Foundation aims to expand access to higher education and support young Ugandans pursuing skills in technology and innovation, while contributing to the development of the country’s future digital workforce.
