Kopo Kopo has launched K2 Connect V2, an upgraded version of its payments API designed to give businesses more tools to integrate payment and payout services directly into their existing systems.
The new version allows businesses to initiate payment reversals directly from point-of-sale (POS) systems, eliminating the need to switch to the Kopo Kopo app. It also introduces payment links, allowing businesses to generate and share links with customers making periodic payments and receive notifications once transactions are completed.
K2 Connect V2 also adds bulk payments, enabling businesses to send money to multiple M-PESA numbers and bank accounts directly through payroll, POS or enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The upgrade further includes a Daraja payload switcher that supports incoming payment responses in both Customer-to-Business (C2B) and Business-to-Business (B2B) formats.
Kopo Kopo has also improved its webhook capabilities, allowing businesses to receive real-time transaction alerts through their back-office systems. This can help automate processes such as closing orders and invoices after successful payments.
The company said existing K2 Connect V1 integrations will continue to be supported, meaning businesses are not required to migrate immediately. However, it recommends upgrading to Version 2 to access the additional features and improvements.
K2 Connect continues to support M-PESA payments, STK Push requests, transfers to bank accounts and M-PESA, real-time payment notifications and transaction-status polling. It can also integrate payments with platforms including QuickBooks, Xero, Odoo and WooCommerce.
Kopo Kopo said developers can begin using K2 Connect V2 through its developer guide and API documentation, while sandbox accounts and software development kits for PHP, Ruby, Python, JavaScript and Dart are also available. The company said more than 40,000 businesses currently use its platform for payments and automated payouts.
