Nollywood actress Toyin Abraham has publicly rejected her reported inclusion in the Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Campaign Council.
The actress was listed alongside several entertainment personalities, including veteran actor Jide Kosoko, actress Eniola Badmus, Fuji musician Pasuma and other figures in the entertainment industry under the party’s Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate.
However, Toyin has clarified that she is not a member of the campaign council and has no plans to participate in any campaign committee.
Reacting to the development on Thursday, September 17, the same day the campaign council list was released, the actress took to X to address the report and asked members of the public to disregard her inclusion.
Toyin wrote, “I’m not a member of any campaign council. I have said it recently: I am staying out of politics.”
Her statement appears to reaffirm her previously stated decision to stay away from political activities, despite her name appearing on the APC campaign council structure.
According to the published list, Toyin was placed under the Entertainment and Creative Economy Directorate, with Toke Benson-Awoyinka named as director, Jide Kosoko as co-director, and Eniola Badmus as deputy director.
Other entertainment personalities were also included in the directorate as part of the wider campaign structure.
The APC campaign council is scheduled to be inaugurated on Friday, September 18, at the party’s secretariat on ACME Road, Ikeja.
Toyin’s public statement has therefore made it clear that, despite her name appearing on the released list, she does not consider herself a member of the campaign council.
