Nigerian media entrepreneur and filmmaker, Mosunmola Abudu, popularly known as Mo Abudu, has opened EbonyLife Place London, a cultural and entertainment hub dedicated to African and Black creativity.

The facility, located on Wandsworth Road in London, was officially opened on Thursday, Oct. 8, with a programme of film, fashion, food, music, art and cultural activities scheduled for Oct. 9 to Oct. 11.

A major feature of the centre is the Amani Auditorium, a 160-seat cinema dedicated exclusively to African and Black films, which Abudu described as the only cinema of its kind in the United Kingdom.

In a post on her Instagram page, Abudu described the facility as “a place rooted in Africa, inspired by London and open to everyone”.

She said the destination was designed to bring film, fashion, food, music and art together, providing opportunities for people to experience, discover, connect and celebrate African creativity.

According to her, the Amani Auditorium would host film premieres, screenings, performances, listening parties and special events.

The centre also includes the Afrobeat Restaurant, which offers African-inspired food and dining experiences.

Other facilities include the Maji Concession and Bar, offering refreshments and drinks; Zuri Retail, showcasing African fashion, jewellery, beauty and design; and the Living Wall Gallery, featuring works by established and emerging African artists.

The centre also houses Fèhìntí Lounge, designed as a space for relaxation, meetings and social gatherings.

Abudu said every detail of the facility had been designed to create an experience that promotes African creativity, culture and connection.

The opening programme features curated film screenings, live music performances, contemporary African art exhibitions and food experiences.

EbonyLife Place London extends the EbonyLife Place concept established in Lagos in 2019, which combines cinema, hospitality and entertainment within a single destination.

Abudu, founder of EbonyLife Group, has built a media business focused on telling African stories through film and television productions.

The London facility is expected to provide a platform for African and Black filmmakers, artists, designers and other creative professionals to showcase their work and connect with wider international audiences.
