The SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards has officially announced the commencement of entries for Africa’s first-ever Sustainability Industry Rankings—a landmark initiative designed to identify, celebrate, and benchmark the continent’s most impactful organizations, business leaders, and sustainability professionals.
The rankings, comprising the Africa Top 100 Organizations in Sustainability, Africa Top 50 CEOs in Sustainability, and Africa Top 50 Sustainability Professionals, are being introduced as part of the 20th Anniversary celebrations of The SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards, Africa’s leading sustainability recognition platform.
Open to participants from all African countries, the rankings seek to spotlight organizations and individuals demonstrating exceptional commitment to environmental stewardship, social impact, ethical governance, innovation, responsible business practices, and sustainable development. More than a recognition programme, the rankings aim to establish a credible benchmark for sustainability leadership across Africa while inspiring organizations and professionals to raise the standard of impact, accountability, and responsible growth.
Participation is open to private sector organizations, including SMEs, large corporations, and multinational companies operating across Africa; public sector institutions and government agencies; development organizations, NGOs, and social enterprises; chief executive officers, managing directors, and business leaders driving sustainability within their organizations; as well as sustainability, ESG, CSR, and impact professionals leading transformative initiatives across the continent.
Entries may be submitted through three nomination routes: self-nomination, organizational nomination, and peer nomination. This approach ensures that deserving organizations and individuals can be recognized either through their own submissions, nominations by their organizations, or recommendations from industry peers and stakeholders.
The initiative is being delivered in collaboration with a distinguished group of institutional and media partners, including the African Union (AU), African Development Bank (AfDB), United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), United Nations Global Compact, Forbes Africa, African Sustainability Network, and BusinessDay Media Group, reflecting the growing importance of sustainability as a driver of Africa’s economic transformation and long-term development.
Entries open on October 12, 2026, and close on November 20, 2026, while the final rankings will be unveiled on December 4, 2026.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, Ken Egbas, Founder of The SERAS Africa Sustainability Awards, said:
“For the first time, Africa will have a credible and independent platform dedicated to identifying and ranking organizations, CEOs, and sustainability professionals creating measurable impact across the continent. These rankings represent an important milestone in Africa’s sustainability journey and will serve as a benchmark for excellence, innovation, leadership, and long-term value creation.
“Over the last two decades, The SERAS has championed sustainability accountability and impact across Africa. Through these rankings, we are creating a platform that not only recognizes outstanding performance but also inspires organizations and leaders to accelerate their contribution to the continent’s sustainable future.
“As sustainability becomes increasingly central to business success, investment attraction, stakeholder trust, and organizational resilience, we encourage every organization, CEO, and sustainability professional making a meaningful contribution to Africa’s development to participate and showcase their impact.”
The rankings are expected to become a valuable reference for investors, policymakers, development institutions, consumers, and other stakeholders seeking to identify Africa’s leading sustainability champions and organizations driving positive change.
