Sen. Kenneth Eze representing Ebonyi Central Senatorial District, has distributed 10,000 bags of fertiliser to farmers in his constituency.
Eze, who is the Chairman of Senate Committee on Information and National Orientation, flagged off the distribution on Monday in his hometown, Onueke, Ezza South Local Government Area of Ebonyi.
Speaking at the event, Eze said the initiative was aimed at boosting agricultural production and ensuring food sufficiency in the state.
He explained that though President Bola Tinubu had also distributed fertiliser across the country, his intervention was to ensure effective grassroots coverage, particularly because most residents of his constituency were engaged in agriculture.
The senator urged stakeholders in the various wards to ensure that the fertiliser was distributed transparently and equitably to deserving farmers.
He also warned beneficiaries against selling the fertiliser, stressing that the intervention was intended to support agricultural production and improve food security in the area.
Eze urged eligible voters in the district to support candidates of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 general elections.
He promised to deliver more dividends of democracy to his constituents and advised residents to sustain the prevailing peace in the area to promote development.
In his reaction, Chief Lazarus Ogbe, a stakeholder in Ezza South, commended Eze for making the distribution of agricultural materials an annual event.
Ogbe described the initiative as a demonstration of the senator’s commitment to the welfare of his constituents.
He declared Ezza South’s support for the APC and urged the electorate to reciprocate the senator’s gesture through massive votes for the party and its candidates.
Similarly, Mr Henry Nwode, Chairman of Ikwo Local Government Area, said Eze had performed creditably in the social, political, economic, and infrastructural development of the senatorial district.
Nwode pledged to mobilise voters in Ikwo to support Eze’s re-election bid in 2027.
Also speaking, Chief Patrick Igwe from Ezza North Local Government Area said the senator had fulfilled his campaign promises made during the 2023 elections.
Igwe attributed the development to what he described as Eze’s effective representation of the district.
He further claimed that the senator’s performance had strengthened his political standing in Ezza North.
In another reaction, Mrs Oluchi Chukwu, vice-chairwoman of Ishielu Local Government Area, praised Eze’s performance and urged him to sustain his efforts.
Chukwu expressed confidence in the senator’s re-election prospects in 2027, describing his return to the Senate as certain.
