The Omoyele Sowore led-African Action Congress (AAC) has written to President Bola Tinubu, seeking approval to inaugurate its Presidential Campaign Council at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, Abuja, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also requested food, drinks and other logistical support for 5,000 participants expected to attend the event, including Nigerians from home and abroad.
The request was contained in a letter dated October 21, 2026, and addressed to Tinubu at the Presidential Villa. It was signed by the AAC National Secretary, Oshiokhue Philip Ikpeminoghena.
According to the letter, the party plans to hold the inauguration on November 11, 2026, as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
The AAC said its request was based on the principles of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness and equal treatment of political parties.
It also cited what it described as logistical arrangements reportedly extended to the All Progressives Congress (APC) for a similar political engagement, arguing that the same consideration should be given to other parties.
“In the spirit of multiparty democracy, political inclusiveness, and equal treatment of political parties, we also request the provision of food, drinks, and other logistical support for 5,000 participants from home and abroad at the event,” the letter stated.
The party further argued that granting its request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness and equal access, insisting that public institutions should serve all Nigerians without political discrimination.
“We believe that granting this request would demonstrate the Presidency’s commitment to fairness, equal access, and the principle that public institutions must serve all Nigerians without partisan discrimination,” it added.

The AAC also asked the President to communicate the procedures and conditions required for approval of the request.
It was not immediately clear whether the Presidency had responded to the letter.
The development comes as political parties begin preparations for the 2027 general elections, with parties expected to intensify their activities ahead of the polls.
