Liverpool Football Club and its principal partner, Standard Chartered, have announced a new fundraising initiative aimed at encouraging girls to remain involved in sports.

The initiative forms part of the club’s Play On campaign, which seeks to address declining participation among teenage girls and support programmes that provide opportunities for young female athletes.

Liverpool announced that its men’s and women’s teams will wear specially branded shirts during two Premier League fixtures in November, replacing the usual front-of-shirt sponsorship branding with the Play On campaign logo.

The Liverpool women’s team will wear the special shirts against Chelsea on Saturday, November 21, while the men’s team will display the campaign branding during their Premier League meeting with Manchester United at Anfield on Sunday, November 22.

As part of the fundraising effort, supporters can bid for exclusive matchday opportunities, including mascot places and participation in a halftime penalty shootout.

Proceeds from the auctions will go to the LFC Foundation to support programmes designed to encourage girls to continue participating in sports.

According to the club, the campaign seeks to address research indicating that girls are twice as likely as boys to stop participating in sports by the age of 14.

Liverpool also plans to auction signed match-worn and match-prepared shirts from the designated fixtures, with further details expected to be announced.

The club disclosed that the previous edition of its Play On shirt campaign raised nearly £100,000 for charitable activities.

Bidding for the mascot and halftime penalty shootout experiences will remain open until Friday, November 6, 2026.
