The All Progressives Congress (APC) Women Directorate of the Presidential Campaign Council (PCC) is targeting 10.5 million votes from women nationwide for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027.
The party’s National Woman Leader, Dr Mary Alile, disclosed this on Monday at the APC presidential rally in Calabar.
Alile expressed confidence that women would deliver the targeted votes through coordinated mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.
“We have said this and have promised to achieve this among ourselves,” she said.
She described women as a critical voting bloc, adding that they remained committed to mobilising support for Tinubu and other APC candidates.
Also speaking, the Deputy Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Sen. Adams Oshiomhole, defended the administration’s economic reforms.
Oshiomhole said the policies were beginning to yield positive results in spite of the economic challenges that initially accompanied their implementation.
He cited the Federal Government’s student loan scheme as an intervention expanding access to higher education, particularly for students from low-income families.
He said thousands of students in Cross River had benefited from the initiative, stressing that parental financial circumstances should not determine access to education.
The former Edo governor also highlighted the ongoing coastal road construction as a major infrastructure project expected to stimulate development and improve national connectivity.
He said the establishment of the Gulf of Guinea Commission’s secretariat in Calabar would further enhance the city’s diplomatic and economic relevance.
On foreign exchange reforms, Oshiomhole argued that exchange rate unification had ended a discriminatory system that favoured politically connected individuals.
He challenged opposition parties to present credible alternatives to the Tinubu administration’s policies, expressing confidence in the APC’s 2027 electoral prospects.
In his remarks, the Minister of State for Industry, Sen. John Owan-Enoh, urged Cross River residents to support Tinubu’s re-election.
Owan-Enoh said a strong electoral mandate would strengthen Gov. Bassey Otu’s bargaining position when seeking federal projects and opportunities for the state.
He said the administration’s economic and governance reforms were beginning to produce results, urging Nigerians to consider the challenges inherited in 2023.
The minister added that Cross River had benefited from federal development initiatives, particularly infrastructure and other areas of national investment.
“We need to give our governor the kind of votes that will come from Cross River.
“It is those votes that will make a statement in Abuja and empower our governor to make demands for the people of Cross River,” he said.
Owan-Enoh urged APC members and supporters to work collectively towards securing victory for Tinubu and other party candidates in 2027.
The rally was attended by Gov. Monday Okpebholo of Edo, Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa and Gov. Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom.
