OPay has announced the postponement of its proposed listing on the New York Stock Exchange amid an ongoing regulatory inquiry, assuring users that its services will continue without interruption.
The digital financial services provider disclosed the development in a statement to customers and other stakeholders, noting that the decision followed a careful assessment of the circumstances surrounding the regulatory inquiry.
The company explained that suspending the planned initial public offering was considered the most appropriate decision in the interest of its business and stakeholders while the regulatory process continues.
Despite the development, OPay maintained that its operations across Nigeria and other markets remain unaffected.
It said all its financial services are fully functional, with customers able to continue using its platforms for everyday transactions.
The company specifically confirmed that money transfers, payments, savings and other services remain available as usual.
The announcement comes amid potential concerns among users and business partners about whether the postponement of the planned NYSE listing could have implications for the company’s operations.
OPay sought to address such concerns by emphasising that the development relates to its proposed stock market listing and does not affect its ability to provide financial services.
The company thanked its customers, merchants, agents, employees and business partners for their continued confidence and support.
It also reaffirmed its commitment to technology-driven financial inclusion and the delivery of convenient, reliable and accessible financial services.
