The Labour Party (LP) governorship candidate for last year’s Anambra State governorship election, Dr George N Moghalu, has officially quit the opposition party, resigning his membership from his ward.
Moghalu, former Managing Director National Inland Waterways Authority (NIWA), announced his resignation of the party’s membership in a letter dated January 26, 2026, he personally signed and submitted to the party’s chairman in his ward, Uruagu, Nnewi, in Anambra State.
The former National Auditor of the All Progressives Congress (APC) thanked, profusely the opposition party leadership at the grassroots, state and national level, for granting him the viable platform to contest the November last year off-cycle governorship poll.
The resignation letter read: “I bring you the good wishes of my family and to formally inform you of my resignation from the Labour Party effective today, the 26th of January, 2026.”
“Let me also thank the party through you for providing me the opportunity to use the Labour Party platform to contest the last governorship election of our state.
“Please, accept as always, the assurance of my sincere regards and kindly convey the same to the members,” the simple, concise straightforward letter read.
