Nigerian singer Omah Lay has shared his thoughts on friendships and attitudes within the country’s music space, saying many people in the industry carry strong egos.

themomentng reports that he made this known during a recent appearance on the Nando Leaks podcast, where he spoke about his personality and how it affects his relationships.

According to him, he sees himself as someone different and does not depend on approval from others, which has shaped the way he connects with people.

The singer explained that he keeps only a few friends around him, choosing to stay close to those who truly understand his mindset and direction.

He said he is not the type to mix with many people, as he prefers a small circle of individuals who are willing to relate with him on a deeper level.

While describing himself as calm and easygoing, he admitted that he also has a strong sense of self, which sometimes makes it hard to build new friendships.

He pointed out that this same attitude is common in the Nigerian music scene, where many artists and industry players tend to carry pride.

Omah Lay also noted that he is aware of how this trait can affect growth, adding that he makes efforts to stay grounded at times so it does not stand in his way.

He said: “I have a very weird personality, I believe I am just that guy, so I don’t have a lot of friends. I don’t talk to a lot of people, just very few people and those people are people who try to come into my world and understand where I am going.

“The Nigerian music scene is full of egos. I am a chill guy but I have too much ego. It is hard to make friends like that.”
