According to a statement released to defence correspondents in Abuja by the Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, Directorate of Recruitment, Captain Abubakar Umar Hammanga, the Director-General of the Delta State Bureau for Orientation and Communications, Dr Fred Latimore Oghenesivbe, disclosed that Governor Sheriff Oborevwori approved the initiative.

The statement explained that the state government decided to provide assistance to reduce the financial pressure on candidates participating in the exercise.

As part of the package, the government is offering daily welfare support to applicants.

It has also provided accommodation materials such as foams and bedding, alongside transportation services to help candidates move to and from relevant locations during the screening exercise.

The recruitment screening is expected to end on June 23, and the government urged all shortlisted candidates who have not yet arrived at the screening centre to report before the deadline.

Authorities warned that any candidate who fails to participate within the approved period could lose the opportunity to continue in the recruitment process.

The statement also revealed that the Commander of 63 Brigade, Brigadier General F. Shonibare, and the Director of Recruitment, Brigadier General I. Sule, visited the screening centre during the exercise.

During their visits, both senior officers encouraged candidates to remain disciplined, focused and committed throughout the screening process.

They assured participants that the recruitment exercise would be conducted fairly and based on merit.

The officers further urged the applicants to give their best performance at every stage of the screening as they pursue a place in the Nigerian Army.
