United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc has reaffirmed its commitment to environmental sustainability and employee wellbeing by mobilizing employees across its operations in 20 African countries for a continent-wide environmental clean-up exercise.

The bank made this known in a statement on Saturday in Lagos.
It said the exercise formed part of its quarterly “Jogging to Bond” wellness programme with the theme “The Power Within U”.
According to the statement, the event coincided with the 60th birthday of the bank’s Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr Oliver Alawuba, who marked the occasion with employees.
It said the clean-up exercise was conducted simultaneously in cities including Lagos, Accra, Nairobi and Dakar as part of the bank’s environmental sustainability initiatives.
The statement added that the Lagos event featured fitness and wellness activities, including spinning bike sessions, fitness challenges, relaxation therapies and an exercise station hosted by iFitness.
She said the initiative promoted a healthy workplace culture, strengthened teamwork and encouraged employees to contribute to environmental sustainability.
According to her, the programme aligns with the bank’s Employee Value Proposition and Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) strategy, which promotes wellness, volunteerism and responsible corporate citizenship across its operations.
UBA operates in 20 African countries as well as the United Kingdom, the United States, France and the United Arab Emirates.
