Notorious terrorist Ado Aleru has revealed why efforts to negotiate peace with the government keep failing.
Aleru, while addressing members of his group, alleged that government officials would initiate peace talks and negotiations with the terrorists, only for security forces to subsequently launch operations that resulted in the deaths of members.
He claimed that repeated killings of members of his group by security forces have frustrated peace talks.
According to him, the alleged pattern has eroded their trust in the government and made further negotiations difficult.
Aleru said the group is no longer interested in participating in peace talks, insisting that previous attempts at negotiation have failed because of what he described as continued attacks by security forces.
His statements follow efforts by authorities and community stakeholders to explore dialogue in addressing insecurity and armed violence in affected communities.
