The Big Brother Naija winner opened the celebration with glamorous portraits and a declaration that was unmistakably Mercy.
“365 days, but this one is MINE! HAPPY BIRTHDAY CHINENYENWA. Here’s to another year of being THAT girl.”
Then came the second reveal — and considerably more horsepower.
A black Mercedes-AMG G63, dressed for the occasion with a red bow, appeared on her page, with Mercy behind the wheel. Her caption needed only six words: “New age, new keys, same me!”
By nightfall, she was already looking towards next year. Responding to a fan nostalgic for the lavish birthday parties of her earlier celebrity years, Mercy wrote: “I miss it too, Next year, we shut down.”
The posts drew hundreds of thousands of views and an avalanche of birthday wishes.
@IsabellaGeorgeW celebrated the “queen,” while @ChimmieeHQ called her the “winner of all winners.” @OppongRenelle hailed “LAMBORGHINI MERCY” and offered prayers for her businesses. @favvyluvr wrote: “Happy birthday big sis. Keep winning Ada Imo State,” while @AdeolaAwokoya declared: “The real LAMBO! QUEEN OF THE LATEST WHEELS!”
That was the birthday Mercy appeared determined to put on record: Chinenyenwa at 33, still “that girl,” with another set of keys in hand.
But the internet rarely allows Mercy Eke to celebrate a birthday without dusting off the other file — her age.
For years, social media users have disputed the 1993 birth year associated with the reality star, with alternative claims circulating online during and after her Big Brother Naija All Stars appearance. At the height of the controversy, her sister, Sweery, published what she presented as Mercy’s birth certificate, showing a September 1993 birth date, and challenged critics to find something else to discuss.
On that account, September 29, 2026 marked Mercy’s 33rd birthday. Yet the controversy has proved stubborn.
Mercy herself offered no fresh argument about the arithmetic. She simply posed, celebrated and collected her new wheels.
The comment section, however, happily resumed hostilities.
“Mercy, are you finally up to 30 now?” @Tomslav14 teased, recycling the familiar argument about her age.
Others moved from her age to the source of her expensive lifestyle. Some comments crudely questioned who bought the luxury vehicles, while @Sandlerftis turned the speculation into a rhyme: “Same you!! New Keys!! New Age!! New M0n!!”
@EMMY7010 offered a different interpretation, warning women not to measure their lives against expensive gifts displayed by celebrities when they do not know the circumstances behind them.
Others simply wished Mercy well. @Shukura1960 prayed for another year in good health, while @Ifeanyi374185 urged her to consider investments in Owerri.
It is an increasingly familiar ritual around Mercy. Since winning Pepper Dem in 2019, her birthdays and luxury acquisitions have often become social-media ledgers: How old is she? Who bought what? Where did the money come from?
This year, she answered none of them.
Instead, Mercy Eke gave the internet two short sentences and a formidable set of wheels.
New age. New keys. Same me.
Whether social media files her under 33 or insists on another number, the woman behind the wheel of the G63 did not spend her birthday fighting over a date of birth.
She celebrated Chinenyenwa, promised a bigger shutdown next year — and left the age controversy exactly where she found it: off the cake.
