A video showing Nigerian content creator and livestreamer Peller meeting Swiss luxury watchmaker Franck Muller has generated reactions on social media, with many Nigerians revisiting the controversial “Olodo Uprising” debate.
The encounter, captured in a video circulating on X, showed Peller approaching Muller at the entrance of a building, where the watchmaker was accompanied by his wife and personal assistant.
Known for his playful interactions with celebrities and influential personalities, Peller engaged Muller in a conversation about luxury wristwatches.
During the exchange, the streamer asked to examine some of the watches worn and held by those present.
Muller responded by showing him the timepieces and explaining how they worked, including some of their features.
As the conversation continued, Peller expressed interest in becoming a brand ambassador for the luxury watch company.
The watchmaker subsequently handed him his contact card, giving the streamer an opportunity to reach out after their meeting.
Although the interaction appeared friendly, there was no indication in the video that an ambassadorial agreement had been reached.
The encounter soon became a subject of discussion on X, where users expressed different opinions about Peller’s confidence, communication skills and ability to connect with influential people.
Some linked the meeting to the “Olodo Uprising” controversy, a debate that gained attention after Nigerian rapper Ycee criticised what he described as the growing celebration of ignorance and social media popularity over education.
The discussion had previously drawn attention to Peller’s public persona, particularly his unconventional communication style and educational background.
Reacting to the latest video, an X user, @iam_Lucaaas, questioned those who regularly criticise the streamer’s command of English.
“Peller is illiterate; Peller can’t speak English…bla bla bla…
“You wey sabi speak English pass Wole Soyinka, how your life dey go?”
Another user, @Blaqk101, directly connected the meeting to the earlier controversy, suggesting that Peller’s growing exposure contradicted some of the criticism directed at him.
“See, Grace, nah, the Oodo uprising be this ooo with the ceo of Frank muller watch but you wey no be uprising you deh somewhere for conner deh think of life”
For @MubbyAbdul1, the encounter raised questions about whether Peller’s playful behaviour accurately reflected his abilities.
“This guy Dey whine Nigerians, he no actually be the olodo wey una think say e be”
Similarly, @thegoatachive drew attention to the streamer’s communication during the conversation.
“Do you notice his ENGLISH?😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
“Boy has been playing y’all.”
Beyond the education debate, other commenters focused on Peller’s decision to introduce himself as a potential ambassador during an unexpected meeting.
An X user, @arexobcd, praised his confidence while questioning whether the conversation could eventually produce a business opportunity.
“Bro came prepared with the pitch and the confidence! 😭😂⌚️ Nothing beats knowing how to sell yourself—will he land that ambassador deal? 👀🔥”
Another commenter, @OdumahPromise, argued that Peller’s willingness to approach influential individuals offered a lesson in self-promotion.
“Peller is doing things some graduates have problems doing—selling themselves to people… This is why he is great. He isn’t shy; he’s very bold and smart. We need to learn how to sell to make it in this life.”
Not everyone agreed with his approach.
Reacting to the ambassadorial request, @motionbibi expressed concern that openly seeking such an opportunity could affect his negotiating position.
“The way he sounds desperate to be an ambassador for them can make me undervalue him in terms of (gig pay).”
Another user, @i_amvertical, also questioned whether the streamer should have approached the opportunity differently.
“That was an amazing meeting, Muller, but why do I feel like Peller should know his worth before going it this way…?? I love you Peller one love”
The reactions reflected differing views about Peller’s public image, with some praising his confidence and networking abilities while others questioned his approach to securing commercial opportunities.
The video has also renewed conversations about the relationship between formal education, social media influence, and access to business opportunities, particularly as Peller continues to attract attention through his encounters with prominent personalities.
