Kenya has confirmed four new Ebola cases, bringing the total to seven, including one death, as health authorities intensify efforts to contain the outbreak and prevent further transmission.

Dr Jean Kaseya, Director-General of Africa CDC, said this through the agency’s official X handle.

Kaseya said three of the newly confirmed cases involved healthcare workers, raising concerns about occupational exposure and the need to strengthen infection prevention and control measures in health facilities.

“All four cases were identified among individuals already in quarantine, highlighting the importance of early detection, contact tracing and prompt public health interventions in containing the outbreak,” he said.

Kaseya commended Kenyan authorities for their vigilance and leadership while expressing solidarity with affected healthcare workers, their families and other impacted communities.

“With the outbreak continuing in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), Africa CDC emphasised the importance of regional solidarity and coordination to strengthen surveillance, response efforts, and cross-border preparedness,” he said.

He reaffirmed Africa CDC’s commitment to supporting the Kenyan government, assisting frontline health workers and strengthening public health interventions aimed at protecting communities and preventing further spread of the virus.

The Director-General emphasised that every case detected early provided an opportunity to interrupt transmission, underscoring the need for sustained surveillance, effective contact tracing, and coordinated action across affected countries.
