SuperSport viewers on DStv and GOtv can look forward to action from the 2020-21 La Liga and Serie A seasons, with matches scheduled for 11-16 May 2021.

SuperSport is the only place to get English commentary from the legendary La Liga, where the pick of matches for this round sees Atletico Madrid host Real Sociedad at Estadio Wanda Metropolitano on the evening of Wednesday 12 May at 9pm on SuperSport La Liga (DStv channel 204) and SuperSport GOtv La Liga (GOtv channel 32).

The title race continues to enthral in Spain’s top flight and Atletico need three points from this clash to move one step closer to glory, while visitors Real are scrapping to finish in fifth place and ensure a spot in the UEFA Europa League next season.

“La Liga is very complex, we cannot relax,” said Rojiblancos manager Diego Simeone. “There are four teams close to being able to close a great season, Sevilla are doing well, Madrid responded well and Barcelona are playing now. We are to think game by game and we are not going to change now. We think about the next game and we will try to move it forward.”

The title race’s key matches also see defending champions Real Madrid travel to Estadio Nuevo Los Carmenes to face Granada at 9pm on SuperSport La Liga and SuperSport GOtv La Liga, while Barcelona are away to Levante at Estadio Ciudad de Valencia at 9pm on SuperSport La Liga and SuperSport GOtv La Liga,. The Blaugrana lost 3-1 on their last visit to the venue in November 2019 and cannot afford a repeat result.

“The president from the first day has shown his support and confidence in me,” said Barca boss Ronaldo Koeman. “Until the opposite happens then I’ll say the same thing. So, in principle, I see myself as the coach for next season. I have a contract as well. If that’s not the case, we’ll need to talk.”

Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane, meanwhile, has pledged that his team will “fight until the end. It’s not over today. We’re ready for the next game.”

Other games to watch include Sevilla hosting Valencia and looking to further underline their status as the top team outside of the title-contending ‘big three’, while the always entertaining Villarreal will have to fight for all three points away to a Real Valladolid side fighting against the prospect of relegation.

The headline fixture from Serie A this midweek sees Internazionale host Roma for a key clash at the San Siro in Milan on the evening of Wednesday 12 May at 7:45pm on SuperSport Football (DStv channel 205) and SuperSport GOtv Select 1 (GOtv channel 33). The meeting of the Nerazzurri and Giallorossi has long been a fearsome rivalry in Italian football and it will be no different this time around.

And viewers can expect this to be highly competitive, especially seeing as the last six successive Serie A meetings of Inter and Roma have ended in draws, including a 2-2 thriller at the Stadio Olimpico back in January which saw Roma lead through Lorenzo Pellegrini before Inter stormed back to take control with goals from Milan Skriniar and Achraf Hakimi. The Roman hosts ultimately claimed a share of the spoils thanks to a late equaliser from Gianluca Mancini.

“It will be a tough, tough match against a team that is doing very well in the league. They have suffered some negative results but having seen those matches, they did not deserve to lose,” said Nerazzurri manager Antonio Conte.

Roma manager Paulo Fonseca, meanwhile, admits that his team have had a tough time in dealing with a congested fixture list – including going deep in the UEFA Europa League: “Playing every three days is also one thing at the start of the season, another at this stage when legs are tired. It’s not just Roma, as Villarreal lost two of their last three matches, while Arsenal are 10th in the Premier League and yet in the Europa League semifinal. It’s tough.”

Elsewhere in Italy this midweek, Juventus face a tricky trip away to Sassuolo on Wednesday, 12th May at 7:45pm on SuperSport Variety 3 (DStv channel 208), while Milan will be wary of visiting a Torino team fighting for their top-flight lives at 7:45pm. “The decisive moment of the season is coming,” said Rossoneri manager Stefano Pioli.

“Everything we have done so far has helped us to this moment. The matches will be complicated and difficult; we must think about giving our best because we want to get to the end of the season without regrets. We are playing for Milan and give our all. We will make up the accounts at the end.”

Other key matches to look out for include Lazio hosting Parma in Rome on Wednesday, 12th May at 7:45pm on SuperSport Action (DStv channel 210), Atalanta welcoming Benevento to Bergamo at 7:45pm on SuperSport Variety 4 (DStv channel 209) and SuperSport GOtv Football (GOtv channel 31), and Napoli facing Udinese at Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Tuesday, 11th May at 7:45pm on SuperSport Football and SuperSport GOtv Select 1 – with the Neapolitans hoping Nigerian Victor Osimhen can continued finding the back of the net with regularity.

Viewers on DStv and GOtv can see all their favourite stars from the African continent dominating in leagues across Europe.
