Glo-sponsored African Voices parades female pilot, space engineer

This week’s edition of the Globacom-sponsored television magazine programme, CNN African Voices Changemakers, will be celebrating two Africans who have been doing exploits in Aviation and Space engineering.

 

The guests who are experts in Science, technology, engineering and mathematics, otherwise called STEM education include Botswana’s  Kgomotso Phatsima and Ernest Teye Matey from Ghana. 

Phatsima is an ambassador of Aviation and Aerospace. A social entrepreneur, she empowers youth in aviation and aerospaces, as well as STEM education awareness and equipping the upcoming generation with business entrepreneurial skills.

Phatsima who won the Botswana Youth Awards Best Female of the Year 2017, is among the first female military pilots in Botswana Defence Force. In 2018 she emerged as one of the exceptional young leaders in Africa in the Obama Foundation Africa Leadership Program.

The second guest, Matey was part of the trio that built and launched Ghana’s first satellite, GhanSat-1. He is the co-founder and outreach manager of the All Nations University – Space Systems Technology.

More than 7,000 students from over 50 different high schools  across Ghana have benefitted from Space and STEM education programs which was organized by Matey in conjunction with All Nations University – Space Systems Technology Laboratory.

The 30-minute magazine programme comes up on DSTV channel 401  on Saturday at 9.30 a.m. It will be repeated on Sunday at 4.30 a..m., 7.30 a.m, 12.30 p.m. and 7.30 p.m. More repeats come up on Monday at 4.00 a.m., while a two-part, fifteen-minute repeats will be shown on Tuesday and Wednesday at 6.45 p.m. on both days.
