A new movie that illuminates the something-for something type of sexual harassment; an exchange of sex for academic marks in tertiary institutions which diminishes students’ right and impedes on their educational achievements or productivity, is set for release soon.
It’s going to be first-of-its-kind in Nigeria’s Nollywood, according to Princess Eno Udo, the producer, a young beauty who is well experienced in movie making.
However, because the producer recognizes that advertisement is critical to a movie’s success, she is pushing out the film’s poster as a first step. Princess Udo gave her reasons; I am trying to make a difference in promoting this particular movie, ‘Sex For Marks’. I am releasing the poster first because, by the time the movie gets to the public, if you have seen the poster, you would be hungry to see what the movie really is.”
Releasing the poster is not just making a promotional material, we are giving movie buffs a design element that captures their interest, one that has the right balance and conveys the movie’s message.
Sex for marks has become an issue of discussion in the Nigerian tertiary institutions in recent time due to its repeated occurrence. This movie, Udo says, analytically examines the prevalent harassment in tertiary institutions. In sourcing for information, we gathered that the producer adopted the empirical methodology, involving quantitative and qualitative methods of research, before going for filming.
What happens when a principled academic Lecturer is torn between living a moral life, and gratifying himself with fleshly desires in an environment where even those who are supposed to protect him are bent on seeing his downfall?
This movie featuring such tested actors as Sam Dede, Shaffy Bello, Adunni Ade, Norbert Young and many other stars, was directed by seasoned film director, Teco Benson, produced by Princess Eno Udo, while the executive producer is award-winning Jude Richard.
