LAPO Microfinance Bank (MFB) has emerged Microfinance Bank of the Year for the 12th consecutive time at the 2025 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.
This is contained in a statement issued by the bank on Sunday in Lagos.
Mr Oluremi Akande, Director, Marketing and Communications, LAPO MFB, said the award underscored the bank’s consistency, resilience, and innovativeness in the nation’s microfinance industry.
“Winning this award for the 12th consecutive time reflects our unwavering commitment to financial inclusion and the empowerment of low-income households across Nigeria,” Akande said.
He said the recognition was also in appreciation of the bank’s impact in delivering financial services to underserved populations.
“Our mission has always been to take superior financial services to the last mile, and this honour validates the progress we continue to make toward that goal,” he added.
Akande said LAPO MFB operated over 500 branches across 34 states and the FCT, with cumulative loan disbursements exceeding N1.7 trillion to micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs).
He said the bank had provided employment for more than 6,000 Nigerian youths and offered scholarships to over 5,000 beneficiaries, while promoting sustainable social and environmental initiatives.
“We dedicate this award to our loyal customers and our committed staff who made our vision of providing financial empowerment possible,” Akande said.
