Falz, the Nigerian rapper, has called out the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for destroying “1.8 tonnes of cocaine” in Lagos.

On September 19, the agency seized cocaine “worth N194 billion” from a warehouse in the Ikorodu axis of Lagos.

The NDLEA described the development as one that “appears as the biggest singular cocaine seizure” in the history of the agency.

“Preliminary investigation reveals the class A drugs were warehoused in the residential estate from where the cartel was trying to sell them to buyers in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world,” a statement from the agency reads.

“They were stored in 10 travel bags and 13 drums.”

During the operation, five persons, including a Jamaican and a warehouse manager, were also arrested.

On Tuesday, the agency shared footage showing the seized drugs being set ablaze — sparking a wave of mixed reactions on social media platforms.

Joining the fray, Falz tackled the agency for destroying what he described as “the potential evidence” when the suspects are yet to be arraigned in court.

“This administration must really think that we are daft sha!! What is this lamba that the NDLEA is giving with this cocaine seizure saga? Dem dey burn evidence?” he wrote.

The NDLEA had earlier said it kept a small part of the cocaine for the purpose of prosecution of suspects.

It added that the suspects were also brought to witness the process and sign a “certificate of destruction”.
