Army honours newly promoted Brigadier Generals

The Nigerian Army 8 Division has decorated four senior officers elevated to the rank of Brigadier General, marking a significant milestone in their military careers and reaffirming the Army’s commitment to recognising excellence within its ranks.

Held at the Eagle Officers’ Mess, the ceremony brought together top military officers, family members, and colleagues in a display of honour, discipline, and camaraderie.

The General Officer Commanding (GOC) 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 of the Joint Task Force (North West) Operation FANSAN YAMMA,General Ibikunle Ajose, led the decoration and described the promotion as a testament to the officers’ professionalism and dedication to national service.

He applauded their commitment, noting that the Nigerian Army takes pride in developing leaders with proven character and competence. “Their elevation is a well-deserved milestone, I would be honoured to serve alongside you anywhere in the future.He also paid tribute to the officers’ families, describing them as the “backbone of their success.”

Speaking on behalf of the newly promoted officers, Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu expressed gratitude to the Chief of Army Staff for the confidence reposed in them and commended Major General Ajose for his visionary leadership.

“We are humbled by this honour and the trust placed in us, we pledge to redouble our efforts, exceed expectations and continue serving our nation with integrity and distinction”

The officers decorated include Brigadier General Mansur Tijani, Deputy Chief of Staff Administration; Brigadier General Husaini Toro, Deputy Chief of Staff Operations; Brigadier General Abdulmalik Aboki Adamu, Commander 58 Signals Brigade; and Brigadier General David Chidozie Ibeh, Commander 8 Division Medical Services and Hospital.

The event featured goodwill messages from senior colleagues, formal decoration rites and moments of reflection on the officers’ career journeys. It ended with light refreshments and a group photograph that captured the pride and optimism that defined the gathering.

Their elevation, officers and observers said, signals renewed commitment to strengthening leadership and operational capacity within the Army as it continues to confront emerging security challenges across the country.

This promotion of the officers comes at a time the Nigerian Army continues to strengthen leadership capacities across its formations, especially in ongoing operations in the North West.
