In his inaugural remarks, Oyedele pledged to build on existing reforms while prioritising tangible economic results.

He said his administration would focus on fiscal discipline, transparency, and improved economic performance across key sectors.

He also expressed readiness to collaborate with the staff of the ministry to enhance service delivery.

The new minister commended Edun for his contributions to Nigeria’s economic reform agenda. He also thanked President Tinubu for the opportunity to serve in the strategic role.

Welcoming the new minister, the Permanent Secretary, Raymond Omachi, alongside the Permanent Secretary, Special Duties, Mohammed Danjuma, assured him of full cooperation from the ministry’s workforce.

During Edun’s tenure, the ministry pursued fiscal reforms aimed at boosting revenue generation and strengthening economic coordination.

However, officials noted that the period also faced challenges, particularly in budget implementation, with funding constraints affecting ministries, departments, and agencies.

There were also issues relating to outstanding obligations to pensioners and contractors.
