Accord National Secretary, Hon. Adebukola Ajaja, has won the Oyo State senatorial district primary election ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Ajaja was declared the winner at the end of the Oyo State Accord Senate and House of Representatives primary election in Ibadan on Friday.
She emerged with 10,675 votes, defeating two other aspirants: Oludare Owolabi, who had 4,361 votes, and Musibau Taofeek, with 3,357 votes.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the elections and collation of results were supervised by the party state executives and officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Announcing the results, the state Secretary of the party, Hon. Olayinka Dairo, also announced Hon. Ademola Ojo as the Oyo North senatorial district consensus candidate.
He declared Hon. Wale Ajani as the consensus candidate for the Oyo Central senatorial district.
Hon. Abidemi Ismail emerged as the winner of the Ibadan North-East/South-East federal constituency with 4,079 votes.
Hon. Ademola Oyepeji was announced as the consensus candidate for Oluyole House of Representatives after his opponent, Hon. Oyeleke Agbolahan, stepped down.
In Lagelu/Akinyele federal constituency, Hon. Philip Olasupo pulled 2,329 votes to defeat Hon. Kazeem Azeez, who had 1,423 votes,” he said.
He, however, declared the Ona-ara Egbeda federal constituency result inconclusive, as some people allegedly made away with the result sheet.
Dairo expressed delight that the primaries were completed successfully.
“This is a sign that there is peace in Accord, and we are heavily ready for the 2027 elections.
“The governorship primary held on Tuesday was properly conducted, as INEC and national party officials were present, and the results had been sent to INEC Abuja.
“Hon. Olakunle Busari ‘Goodugoodu’, has been officially presented as the Oyo State Accord governorship candidate for the 2027 election,” Dairo emphasised.
In his acceptance speech, Oyepeji expressed gratitude to his colleague, Agbolahan, for stepping down.
“I’m so excited, and I want to use this medium to appreciate my colleague who truly stepped down with love for me to continue the journey.
“I believe that this race is a winning one by the special grace of God,” he said.
