Terrorists Disrupt Birthday Party in Kogi Hotel; Kill 1, Injure Another

One person was killed and another sustained gunshot injuries following an attack by suspected terrorists on a birthday party in Ikoyi Community, Ijumu Local Government Area of Kogi State.

Security sources said troops of the 12 Brigade, deployed at Patrol Base Kabba, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force, responded to a distress call at about 9:30 p.m. on Friday after receiving information about the attack.

The sources disclosed that the assailants had fled the scene before the arrival of security personnel.

According to the sources, preliminary investigations revealed that the victims were attacked while attending a birthday celebration at Aluta Hotel in the community.

“On arrival, troops discovered that one person had been killed, while another sustained gunshot wounds during the attack.

“The injured victim was evacuated to a hospital for medical treatment, while police personnel evacuated the body of the deceased,” the source said.

Security agencies have commenced efforts to track down the attackers and prevent further threats to residents of the area.
