Patricia Temitope Alabi, popularly known as Tope Alabi, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated gospel singers, songwriters, and film music composers.

Early Life and Education
Tope Alabi was born Patricia Temitope Alabi on 27 October 1970 in Lagos State, Nigeria. Although she was born and raised in Lagos, she traces her ancestry to Yewa South Local Government Area of Ogun State.
She attended Oba Akinyele Memorial High School in Ibadan, Oyo State, before proceeding to study Mass Communication at The Polytechnic, Ibadan, where she graduated with an Ordinary National Diploma (OND).
Career in Nollywood
Before becoming a household name in gospel music, Tope Alabi built a successful career in the Yoruba film industry. During the early 1990s, she worked with renowned theatre groups, including Jesters International and the Alade Aromire Theatre Group, where she appeared as an actress and participated in stage productions.
Beyond acting, she distinguished herself as an exceptionally gifted soundtrack composer and vocalist.
Her voice became synonymous with Yoruba films, as she composed, arranged, and performed soundtracks for more than 1,000 Yoruba movies. Her ability to blend storytelling with powerful vocal delivery made her one of the industry’s most sought-after music directors.
Transition to Gospel Music
In 2000, Tope Alabi formally launched her gospel music ministry with the release of her debut album, Oore Ti O Common, which quickly became a commercial and spiritual success across Nigeria.
The album marked the beginning of a ministry that would span more than two decades and produce numerous acclaimed albums and songs, including Agbara Nla, Angeli Mi, Logan Ti Ode, Alagbara, Yes and Amen, and many others.
