Former Barcelona head coach Xavi Hernández has reportedly agreed to become the new head coach of the Netherlands national team, with an agreement said to have been signed on Wednesday.
The appointment would mark Xavi’s return to management and his first role at the international level.
The Spanish coach is now set to take charge of the Oranje after reaching an agreement with the Dutch football authorities.
As reported by Fabrizio Romano on X on Wednesday, “Xavi has agreed to become the new Dutch national team head coach, a done deal.
“Agreement signed today for former Barcelona head coach.”
Xavi, who built his managerial reputation at Barcelona, is known for a possession-based style strongly influenced by the footballing philosophy of Johan Cruyff.
The move will see one of Spain’s most prominent modern midfielders attempt to bring his tactical philosophy to the international stage.
