The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) said collation of results for the Anambra governorship election begin on Sunday.
The Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) of the state, Dr. Nkwachukwu Orji, in second press conference yesterday, said adequate arrangements for collation of the results at the Registration Areas, Local Government Areas and the State level, had been made.
He stated that results from polling units were already being uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing (IReV) portal and the Registration Area and LGA collation, and called for patience while the process progresses.

The REC stated that the commission has largely resolved the technical glitches experienced with the new Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BVAS).
Though he was silent on whether voting would continue today, Dr. Orji stated that field reports “and independent observers convinced us that most voters were able to vote with the BVAS, following the extension of voting period to 4.00pm and our regulation that any voter on the queue at that time must be allowed to vote.”

INEC had earlier said voting would continue on Sunday where BVAS malfunctioning was unable to allow voters exercise their franchise.

The REC however noted that the commission did not “receive reports of any location where the sustained malfunction of the BVAS led to no election at all.
“Still, we shall continue to receive reports through our usual channels, particularly from the collation of the Form EC40G, which is the official document for recording polling units where elections did not hold or were cancelled.”

He stated that only those accredited would be allowed at the collation centre, which he said, would begin by 10 am.
This, according to him, included collation officers, accredited polling agents, observers and the media.
Orji restated the determination and commitment of the commission to make sure that the election was concluded satisfactorily “and that every vote cast is counted and counts in the outcome.”
