Adebayo Alao-Akala, former governor of Oyo state, is dead. 

Alao-Akala passed on Wednesday, aged 71.

Details of where and how he died are not yet confirmed as of press time.

Alao-Akala was born on June 3, 1950 in Ogbomosho.

He was governor of Oyo state from 2007 to 2011 on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

He also served as the deputy governor of the state from 2003 to 2006 under the government of Rasheed Ladoja.
